Boeheim Appoints Gerry McNamara As Fine's Temporary Replacement

  Head Coach Jim Boeheim has announced that Gerry McNamara will take the place of Bernie Fine on the team's coaching staff while the abuse allegations of Fine are investigated. McNamara joined the staff over the summer as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball program.
  McNamara was the starting point guard for the 2004 National Championship team. He was named to the all-tournament team that year as well. In 2006 McNamara took over the Big East tournament as he led the Orange to the title and was named MVP. It will be great to see one of the greatest players in Orange history back on the bench.

Tuesday Tidbits 11/22/11

  In the latest edition of Syracuse Pros Tuesday Tidbits a few players shined for their respective clubs. I have taken the time to compile what I believe a list of all of the current Syracuse players in the NFL. The star of the weekend would have to go to Mike Williams. Williams caught 7 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. He has become, yet again, the favorite target of Josh Freeman. Tanard Jackson made little impact for the Bucs in their loss to the Packers. Here are the rest of the games:

Dolphins 35 Bills 8

Will Allen led the team in tackles with 5 in the dominating victory over Buffalo.

Ravens 31 Bengals 24

Jameel McClain was the leading tackler for the Ravens with 9 and made some fine plays against Cincinatti. Arthur Jones did not record a tackle.

Colts-Bye

Next week Delone Carter, Dwight Freeney, and Quinn Ojinnaka will take on the Carolina Panthers.

Cowboys 27 Redskins 24

Tony Fiammetta was inactive for the game due to an undisclosed illness. He is expected to return to the lineup on Thanksgiving Day.

Raiders 27 Vikings 21

Donovan McNabb was the backup quarterback but did not play in the loss.

Falcons 23 Titans 17

Adam Terry was inactive for the Titans. Anthony Smith registered no tackles.

Bears 31 Chargers 20

Steve Gregory had 3 tackles, but did not play well in the loss to Chicago.

Lions 49 Panthers 35

Olindo Mare had a perfect game kicking the ball. He was 2 for 2 in field goals and 3 for 3 in extra points.

Syracuse Assistant Under Abuse Allegations

  Syracuse basketball assistant coach Bernie Fine has been placed on administrative leave by the university after two former ball boys say they were abused by Fine.
  According to ESPN'S Outside The Lines the two men accuse Fine of abuse for over 10 years. Fine has been an assistant on the staff for over 30 years. The Syracuse Police have opened an investigation. The university said they investigated the incident in 2005 but heard conflicting reports from key witnesses. Head coach Jim Boeheim was never told about the alleged incidents. Boeheim, a friend and collegue of Fine, said the allegations were "a bunch of a thousand lies".

Syracuse Pros: Tuesday Tidbits 11/15/2011

It was a tough week for Syracuse Alumni as lots of former players either struggled or made little impact in games. Here is what all of your former favorites did in NFL action this week:

Dolphins 20 Redskins 9

-Will Allen had pretty solid coverage all game long for the Dolphins, but only had just one tackle for the fish.

Seahawks 22 Ravens 17

- Arthur Jones had a decent day for the Ravens in their disappointing loss registering 4 tackles. His linebacker counterpart Jameel McClain had 3 tackles.

Jaguars 17 Colts 3

- Former Orange standout Dwight Freeney did very little recording no tackles and Delone Carter rushed just 6 times for 14 yards.

Texans 37 Bucs 9

- In yet another tough game for Tampa Bay Mike Williams caught 2 passes for 43 yards and Tanard Jackson had just 1 tackle.

Packers 45 Vikings 7

- Donovan McNabb was the backup quarterback for the Vikings and saw no action.

Titans 30 Panthers 3

- Olindo Mare missed a 50 yard field goal and made a chip shot for the only points the Panthers had all day.

Cowboys 44 Bills 7

- Tony Fiammetta was the blocking back for possible rookie of the year DeMarco Murray's 135 yards in their blowout win.

Syracuse Pros Tuesday Tidbits: NFL Week 9 in Review

  In this second edition of our new weekly column for Syracuse Pros we will take a look at former Orange players and what they did the previous week in NFL action.

  The Ravens had a huge victory against the Steelers on Sunday Night Football, but Arthur Jones made no significant contributions. Jameel McClain recorded 4 tackles and 1 pass deflection.
Tampa Bay Bucs 16
New Orleans Saints 27
  Mike Williams had the most receptions for the Bucs in their loss to the Saints, finishing with 6 catches for 46 yards. Tanard Jackson recorded 4 tackles and hit Drew Brees on a safety blitz.
Atlanta Falcons 37
Indianapolis Colts 7
  In an ugly game for the Colts, the defense had the lone touchdown for the team coming on a pick-6 from Jerraud Powers. Dwight Freeney managed 1 tackle in the game and got to Matt Ryan once.

56 Weeks Later Jackson Still Not Missing A Beat

On September 22, 2010 Tanard Jackson was suspended for one year for his second violation under the NFL's substance abuse policy. Jackson, the former 4th round pick out of Syracuse, was forced to sit until October 11th, 2011 when he was reinstated by the league. After 56 weeks of no contact with the team Jackson suited up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against one of the league's most feared quarterbacks in Drew Brees. Jackson was able to pick off a Brees pass late in the second quarter in Buccaneers territory. The next week in London Jackson was able to intercept a Jay Cutler pass to help the Buccaneers stay close. Jackson has recorded 6 tackles and 2 interceptions since his return from suspension.

Shortly after the game in London Jackson was awarded with a one year extension worth 3.5 million dollars. According to nfl.com Jackson was "touched by how the organization worked with him to help him secure reinstatement into the league".

Next week Jackson looks intercept another Drew Brees pass as his Tampa Bay Buccaneers face off again with their division rival New Orleans Saints.

He was the backup quarterback, but did not see action in the Vikings 24-21 victory over the Panthers.

Arthur Jones-Baltimore Ravens
He played sparingly in the Ravens victory over the Cardinals. He did not record a tackle.

Mike Williams and Tenard Jackson-Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Both players enjoyed the bye week as they gear up to face the Saints next week.
